Steve Watson and Scott Mason became owners of the Utah Charger in the early 80s after its Top Fuel reign of the 70s. At this time they changed the Charger by modifying the back half of the chassis to set it up with a big block chev and a powerglide in order to run in the Bracket Class. The Charger was run by Steve and Scott from 1984 to 1994 at a local race track in Utah then known as Bonneville Raceway. Although the Charger was run in the Bracket Class, Steve and Scott’s ultimate goal was to improve on the cars performance. As the Hp of the car increased the ability to change out a glide between rounds also improved. They were able to push the old glide units of the times to there limit. They managed to achieve an ET best of 7.23 @183.90
